The Coordinator's Compass

As the coordinator of Girls' Ministries on the local level, you carry a tremendous load. This page is designed to help you stay on course as you navigate the high seas of Girls' Ministries. If you are in the beginning stages of developing a ministry, for example, you and your "crew" may be trying to determine whether or not you should use the weekly discipleship program recommended by IPHC Girls' Ministries. However, if staff and funding are low, you may be asking how else you might have a ministry to girls in your church and community. Monthly focus ideas along with the Ideas Packet are great tools for Girls' Ministries leaders, whether using the girls club curriculum or not.

When you are operating the girls clubs of Girls' Ministries as an achievement-based program, there will be a lot of paperwork that you and your sponsors will have to keep up with, especially when the girls are working on honor status. We will address these issues from time to time as well.

Many of the items available on this page will be pdf files–or will point you to pdf files–for you to download and print. You'll need Adobe Reader (left column) to open these files. Clicking on the specific title of each description below will either take you to a specific page with further information or will download the appropriate file.

January Focus: Baby Hope Club/Sanctity of Human Life. Baby Hope Club (BHC) is a year-round ministry to benefit the young mothers-to-be at The Royal Home in Salemburg, North Carolina. Sanctity of Human Life (SOHL) Week falls in January around the landmark date of Roe vs Wade. This makes the month of January a great time to emphasize Baby Hope Club in the local church. (For more information and resources on Sanctity of Human Life Week, we recommend visiting the website of Be A Voice for Life.)

February Focus: Pursuit of Purity. IPHC Girls' Ministries encourages the local church to join forces with parents, the youth group, and Royal Rangers to combat the issues of purity head on! Found in his second letter to the church at Thessolonica, Paul's admonition still sends a strong message to today's youth: "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity" (I Tim. 4:12 NIV). Today's culture, however, sends a completely different message to our youth. Our youth are encouraged to do what feels good. They are bombarded with messages and programming that stand in stark contrast to what Paul says God expects from us. To read more, click here.

Idea Packet for Girls' Ministries While the girls club concept is the "official' IPHC discipleship method for ministering to girls in the local church, we realize that it may not be possible for all churches to follow this plan. However, ministry to girls is more important today than ever. Local churches who choose not to use the girls clubs curriculum should still endeavor to implement a ministry to girls under the direction of Women’s Ministries. The GM office has prepared ideas for monthly meetings for you to use. Click on the blue link above to learn more.

Parent Previews On this page, you will find pdf files to help you promote the girls clubs. One file highlights all six clubs (on a single page) while the others highlight each individual club. These are great for distributing at a neighborhood event, in a church newcomer's packet, or at the beginning of the Girls' Ministries year September). They can be copied as needed. These pages will be updated soon to reflect the new names as well as adding Sunlight Kids, the new club for birth to 36-month-old boys and girls.

Club-Related News On this page, you will find links to pdf files which highlight news relative to changes or updates for specific clubs such as the change in how badges are placed on the Stars sash or the new emblem badge for Rainbows.

Tips & Trends On this page, you will find links to pdf files of the occasional one-page publication which is mailed to conference GM directors who, in turn, pass these on to local coordinators. This is designed to help leaders stay in touch with Girls' Ministries tidbits and trends that might affect your ministry to girls.

Badges and Placement We are in the processing of adding downloadable pages which show pictures of each unit and its corresponding badge and sticker. This could be helpful in ordering these items since they are no longer pictured in the catalog. There will also be files showing badge and pin placement. This can be downloaded and printed to send home with parents when new badges are awarded. The link to this page will become active as soon as the files are completed.
