Appalachian Conference. WM Director Wanda Myers reported that the conference Girls' Ministries conducted its first "Bronze Level Training" with general GM coordinator, Irvina Parker in May 2006. Virginia Smith, her mother, joined the group for the afternoon session at Harbor of Hope Church in Christiansburg, Virginia. (This was Mother's Day weekend; what an honor to be in attendance as your daughter trains leaders to work with girls to teach them godly values!) The following ladies in our conference completed the Bronze level training and will receive certification as soon as they complete and pass their open book test through the general GM office:
  • Patricia Ruff
  • Julie Finch
  • Diane Carter
  • Mildred Lynch
  • Benita Rice
  • Brenda Mash
  • Dora Sloss
  • Amanda Christly (graduate of Missionettes)
  • Kimberly Goad (GAs, GEMS, now Missionettes Lady!)
  • Linda Atkins
  • Judy Brewster (conference GM coordinator)
  • Pamela Frith
  • Vicky Linkous

At the WM Convention in June of 2006, a number of awards were presented by Judy Brewster (conference coordinator) and Girls' Ministries. These included:

  • Christy Carter from Cool Springs PHC–Honor Star Award
  • Beth Bramlett from Cool Springs PHC–Friends Graduate Award
  • Patricia Ruff from Cool Springs PHC–Silver Level Award for advanced training

Receiving Honor status is a huge achievement and worthy of recognition, whether is the girls or sponsors. Knowing the commitment necessary to meet these stringent requirements, we in the Girls' Ministries office congratulate these individuals on such a great achievement!

The Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church in Blacksburg, Virginia (Appalachian Conference), is proud to announce that Miss Oceanna Cruise was crowned an Honor Star in 2006. The conference regrets that her paperwork did not reach them in time to honor her at their WM Conventions, but extended congratulations to her in their conference newletter in late 2006. The Honor Star requirements include passing a written test over the work accomplished during the three years in Stars. Honor status in this club also includes memorizing the IPHC Articles of Faith and reading the entire New Testament. These accomplishments are worthy of recognation and so we honor Miss Cruise as well. She received her award at the local church where they have crowned several Honor Stars in the past.
